Cartridge Recycling Can Help Protect The Environment

By Armando Rodriguez

There is a huge need of sustainable development for the welfare of the environment. The growing industries have caused the growth of waste materials, which has a direct effect on earth's decomposing capacity. Simply reducing the waste materials can be the best solution. Therefore printer cartridge recycling has become a major concern. The recycling of the printing cartridges can easily be done. The recycled cartridges are found to have more positive impacts.

Recycling cartridges should be a matter of concern. Every second person in this technological influenced era tends to have a computer at home. Almost all of them have their own personal printer. The more a person uses a printer the more number of printing cartridges is used every year. In all total a person uses an average of 3-4 cartridges per year which are considered to be waste after its usage. Recycling the following used cartridges we can have solve two problems. 1. It reduces the waste materials all the cartridges are recycled and new ones are produced from it. 2. It also save lot of money as recycling prevents the production of new cartridges.

Other effects include health hazards. The disposed cartridges with the left over ink in them are very harmful. It may combine with the water table causing serious problems to the person drinking it. Even the inhalation of the gas emitted through them is harmful for the respiratory tract and the lungs.

It also has some economic effects. A completely new toner cartridge is prepared by using several industrial polymers, which also include carbon as a major part. The process of preparation also involves oil, a small amount of heat sensitive plastic and also aluminium is used. The materials are very expensive and therefore it is considered to be an economic harm when they are thrown in the landfill sites after use.

Recycling cartridges also reduces the pressure of decomposition on the environment. The decomposition is a very slow process. The cartridges are made of several constituents like plastics, which are made from combining number of polymers. The polymers also have carbon atoms that hold them together. The carbon atoms hold the polymers strongly, as results it becomes difficult to convert them into smaller particles for decomposition.

Like the decomposition of other plastic materials even the printing cartridges take a long time. Other than just the cartridge, the ink left in the cartridge is also very harmful. The left out ink may seep into the underground table and pollute it. Therefore recycling cartridges is necessary as it reduces the need for decomposition also prevents its side effects. Other than the cartridges recycled are used again and again.

Used cartridges are one of the major causes of the pollution. Recycling cartridges also prevent land, water and air pollution. Excluding the cartridges form the waste materials prevents a lot of health and environmental hazards.

Trees help us for oxygen supply and reducing the cutting down of trees will help us to have more air to breathe. Therefore, recycling plays a very integral part in protecting the environment and recycling cartridges is a major step toward sustainable development.
