Features Of Modern Photocopier Machines

By Lisa Kincade

Among the few indispensable equipment pieces which you may find most useful for your business, whether it is big or small, are photocopier machines. These will help in efficiently increasing output while allowing you to save on your much needed time. Majority of these devices come with identical basic features although some entail a few special functions. These may range from ADF recirculation and three-hole punching.

There are 2 main types of photocopier machines. These are the electrostatic and the xerographic. These two types actually have slight differences in their copying processes. Xerographic copiers come with lenses as well as mirrors within. They project the copied images on the sides of the light-sensitive rotating tubes while being operated for making copies of something. These projected images shall be mimicked on tubes where toners stick to. Papers will be pressed to the tubes and they will then be heated to get the final copies ready.

Electrostatic copiers use just about the same procedure. However, the difference is that they do not use light-sensitive papers. Instead, light-sensitive tubes will be utilized. Electrostatic charges will be forming on papers followed by baking and heating periods for rendering the copies.

Know that most of these devices have bins that can accommodate just about any paper size. Some fo the most common are letter, adjustable and legal papers. A larger copier usually has a bigger bin. It can also offer you more options as compared to others.

Models for copying machines have continued to evolve nowadays. Latest ones have been modeled to cater to image-editing, faxing and sorting options. Majority of those available in the market today feature ADF or automatic document feeders. This is a type of system that allows users to copy documents in large stacks rather than one by one. Recirculating ADF features can flip pages around and this allows double-sided printing. Options for sorting or finishing include stapling, folding and hole punching documents.

Most of the copiers available today can function more like an overall office equipment, providing means for preventative security. There are some that can be connected to computers. Others have faxing features which allow users to receive or send documents. Becoming more popular are those with copy control functions that can only be enabled after entering passwords. This prevents unsolicited workers from accessing the equipment.

Although these devices can offer so much help to businesses and people, they also pose some health risks to users. These are more frequent to people and stationed workers who are constantly exposed to the machine. The most common risks are usually posed by particulate matters and gasses and inhaling of chemical fumes.

Copiers can emit various volatile, organic compounds better known by people as VOCs. These can include TCE as well as Benzene which pose threats to the body. Pregnant women may even more at risk because these fumes can have effects on developing fetuses. However, how heavy its impact will be still remains uncertain.

One of the matters you may possible inhale is black carbon. Beware of ozone which may be emitted by various Photocopier Machines as well. This is created right when the electrical charge starts to create a photo image. Symptoms you need to be wary of are headaches, irritations in the nose, lungs, throat and eyes.
